Advancing Women’s Education in Alipur: Government-Funded College Project
A major development for the Alipur community. A government-sanctioned project worth INR 3.18 crore was approved in October 2024 to advance women’s education in Alipur through the establishment of a dedicated women’s college. The new college will be constructed on 1.10 acres (47,916 sq. ft.) of land belonging to Anjuman-e-Jafria, situated directly opposite Howza-e-Baqarul Uloom, further enhancing educational access for women in our community.
This vital project to advance women’s education in Alipur has been made possible under the guidance of Maulana Mir Azhar Hussain, Hon’ble Member of the Karnataka State Board of Wakfs, Government of Karnataka, appointed in January 2020. Additionally, the project received strong support from B.Z Zameer Ahmed Khan, the current Minister for Housing, Minority Welfare & Wakf, Government of Karnataka, whose commitment to educational development in minority communities has been instrumental.
The official inauguration of this project, dedicated to advancing women’s education in Alipur, took place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Haj Bhavan, Bengaluru. Hon’ble Minister B.Z Zameer Ahmed Khan led the event, joined by representatives from Anjuman-e-Jafria. The launch of this new women’s college development project signifies a transformative step toward improving educational opportunities for women in Alipur.
Islamic teachings hold that education is a valuable pursuit for both men and women. The Quran reminds us,
“Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees” (Surah Al-Mujadila, 58:11).
This verse conveys that knowledge is a means of elevation, benefiting not only individuals but also the community at large.
As Imam Ali (AS) once said,
“Do not prevent women from seeking knowledge, for their rights to learn and grow are essential to society’s progress.”
This statement reflects the perspective on the importance of women’s education, emphasizing that educated women can play pivotal roles in family and community development.
With this initiative, we look forward to fostering growth, empowerment, and expanded access to quality education for the young women of Alipur. This project is set to play a key role in advancing women’s education in Alipur for generations to come.
